Education: Bella holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University (BYU). Her decision to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology stemmed from her fascination with the rigorous research and evidence-based approaches inherent in clinical psychology programs. Specifically, she was drawn to the intersection of clinical child psychology and health psychology, with a focus on pediatric behavioral sleep medicine research and clinical practice.
Clinical Experience: Bella’s clinical journey has been enriched by significant contributions to the behavioral health consultation team at Primary Children’s Hospital. Here, she provided crucial support to children facing diverse health challenges, including chronic pain, cancer, eating disorders, and those awaiting heart transplants. Additionally, she gained valuable experience at an integrated care pediatric office, collaborating with a child psychiatrist to offer outpatient therapy to a diverse range of populations. Bella’s motivation to work with pediatric populations stems from a belief in the preventive nature of pediatric psychology. She is particularly passionate about treating anxiety and OCD using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Response Prevention techniques.
Therapeutic approach: In her practice, Bella employs an ACT and behavioral approach, rooted in evidence-based methods that she has found to be exceptionally effective. She firmly believes in involving parents in the therapeutic process, recognizing their vital role in supporting children beyond weekly therapy sessions. With specialized training in exposure response prevention and ACT, Bella is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for individuals navigating anxiety and OCD, although she is trained in treating ADHD, depression, autism, and many other disorders
Personal Interests: Outside of her professional pursuits, Bella finds joy in baking, particularly sourdough bread, and immersing herself in the realms of fantasy literature. She enjoys exploring cinematic worlds with her husband, engaging in spirited debates as they critique movies and try new foods together. Pilates and long walks offer moments of relaxation and rejuvenation amidst life’s demands, while family travel adventures provide cherished memories and opportunities for exploration.
