Specialties: Luiza specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, neurodevelopmental differences, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She also supports clients with cultural and identity-related concerns.
Education: Luiza is currently completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Brigham Young University, where she also earned her master’s degree. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at BYU.
Experience: Luiza has worked in outpatient pediatric clinics, community health centers, and university-based mental health clinics. In these settings, she has supported children, adolescents, and young adults from diverse backgrounds—including multilingual and minoritized youth—across a wide range of presenting concerns and diagnostic profiles. Her training emphasizes evidence-based assessment and treatment, with a strong commitment to cultural humility, developmental sensitivity, and collaborative care.
Therapeutic Approach: Luiza believes therapy is most meaningful when it helps people connect with their values and strengths. Her work is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and also draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness-based interventions. She strives to create a compassionate, respectful, and affirming space where clients can safely explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while building skills that foster resilience and growth.
About Luiza: Luiza is originally from Brazil and grew up between Brazil and the United States, which has shaped her appreciation for culture, language, and identity. She is fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish. Outside of clinical work, she enjoys running, painting and drawing, playing video games, trying new foods, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
